Two Types of Interims
The Right Type of Interim Pastor for Your Transition
Pastoral transitions are a tipping point. They are also an opportunity to take a church to a new level. Wise congregations recognize the value of having a skilled interim pastor guide them through the transition. IPM’s pastors bring experience, wisdom and guidance to all churches, especially those that have plateaued or declined.
IPM provides two types of Interims.
1. Traditional Interim
- Preach and teach
- Plan and lead services
- Work with leadership and staff
- Church administration
- Pastoral care and visitation
2. Intentional Interim
- Identify pertinent issues and identify overall church health
- Lead a Transition Team
- Affirm the church’s strengths
- Address church issues
- Clarify the church’s mission, vision and values
- Facilitate actions that will strengthen the church
- Coach the pastoral search team
- Prepare the church for its new pastor
